After hours care, urgent care or the emergency room (ER)?
Illnesses, accidents and broken bones don't keep office hours. That's why Allina Hospitals & Clinics offers after hours care, urgent care and emergency care.
Here's some general information to help you determine what kind of care you might need and where to find it.
After hours care
A visit to your regular health care provider and clinic is the best way to receive care for most illnesses and injuries, such as coughs, earaches, sore throats, ankle sprains and muscle strains.

Allina Medical Clinic offers after hours care for when you need medical care during the evenings, weekends and on holidays. Appointments are not required.

Urgent care
An urgent care center can handle the same kinds of illnesses and injuries for which you would be seen at your regular clinic. Urgent care centers generally do not require an appointment and tend to be open later in the evening than most clinics.

Aspen Medical Group urgent care locations
Aspen Urgent Care is open to everyone. You do not need to be a regular patient to walk in and receive care.
Although no appointment is necessary, you can call our urgent care line at 651-641-7021, and they can help set a time for you.
Quello Clinic urgent care locations
Quello Clinic has three Family Convenience Care centers located in the southwestern suburbs of the Twin Cities. No appointments are necessary. Patients are seen on a first come, first served basis.

Emergency room (ER)
Go to the nearest hospital emergency room (ER) or call 911 when medical care is needed immediately to preserve life or avoid permanent harm.
- Occurrences like broken bones, heart attacks and strokes require on-the-spot medical attention.
- A trip to the ER also is recommended for severe abdominal pain, chest pain, head injuries, high fevers, difficulty breathing, severe eye injuries, carbon monoxide exposure, sudden blindness, complicated or deep cuts and other conditions.
- Situations like rape and suicide and suicidal behavior also call for emergency help.
