Certified Nurse Midwives

For centuries, midwives have attended women during pregnancy and childbirth. Today, Certified Nurse Midwives deliver much more than babies. They provide women with health care services from their teen years through adulthood, encompassing both gynecological and obstetrics care.

Cambridge Medical Center has three Certified Nurse Midwives on staff. For information about this service at Cambridge Medical Center, call 763-689-8700 and ask for the Midwives.

Susan Parker Hovinen, RN, CNM, MS
Susan’s passion in nurse midwifery is the birthing aspect but she says, “You have the best birth when you care for the whole woman first.” Susan has been a Certified Nurse Midwife since 1992. She received her Masters of Science degree from the Texas Woman’s University and her Nurse Midwifery Certificate from Parkland School of Nurse Midwifery in Dallas. Susan is also the mother of two young daughters.

Rhonda Dendinger, RN, CNM, MS
Rhonda received her Masters degree from the University of Minnesota and has been a Certified Nurse Midwife since 1990. Rhonda believes in caring for her patients as she would treat her own family. “I like to provide a comfortable environment that allows women to ask anything. Happy families are my greatest reward. There is nothing like giving a well-deserved hug or word of praise after the hard work of birthing.” Rhonda is the mother of two grown sons.
