Sister Kenny Rehabilitation Institute offers comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation for individuals with the following conditions:
- stroke
- brain injury or brain surgery
- cerebral palsy or other pediatric conditions
- degenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease, or multiple sclerosis (MS)
- cancer
- spinal cord injury
Individuals in this program receive one or more of the following services:
- occupational therapy
- speech-language pathology
- physical therapy
- social service
- psychology services
- vocational services
Patients and their families work together with the specialized staff to set goals and achieve maximum function. Treatment is problem-focused and time-limited.
Treatment focuses on improving function, such as walking, swallowing, reading, dressing, homemaking, remembering, and reducing handicaps such as feelings of
low self worth, loss of productivity and social isolation.
If after discharge from this program additional problems arise, a patient may return for additional therapy.
